I do sometimes think about the Fixl project - my long-ago attempt to make a GB-styled mons game. I never even got as far as making a prototype of it, just had a lot of sketched-out ideas. Of course, getting a prototype is always the first step of anything; it's how you know it's going to be fun. Or not, as some of my very early Delyria game prototypes showed me; it looked and worked fine, but it was just boring.


I may give it a go again sometime, although I've had some thoughts on different ways to go with it.
